Evaporator Fan

Located inside the freezer compartment behind a panel. Circulates cold air from the evaporator coil through both compartments. Failure causes gradual warming. Replacement cost: £80–£150.

Condenser Fan

Located near the compressor at the back or base of the unit. Cools the condenser coil. Failure causes the compressor to overheat and cut out. Replacement cost: £70–£130.

How to Tell Which Has Failed

Open the freezer door — if you cannot hear or feel airflow from the back panel, the evaporator fan has likely stopped. If the machine is warm and the compressor is hot to the touch, suspect the condenser fan.
