  1. Temperature setting — Is the dial turned up high enough? Optimal fridge temperature is 1–5°C.
  2. Door seal — Close the door on a sheet of paper; if it pulls out easily the seal is not sealing.
  3. Ventilation — Is there at least 5cm clearance behind the unit?
  4. Overfilling — A packed fridge restricts airflow. Leave space between items.

If the Above Are Fine

Evaporator Fan Failure

If the fan is not running, cold air is not being circulated. You may hear the compressor but the fridge stays warm. Replacement: £80–£150.

Thermostat Fault

A faulty thermostat may not call for cooling even when the fridge is warm. Replacement: £70–£130.

Refrigerant Leak

If the sealed system has developed a leak, a Gas Safe engineer is required. Cost varies: £150–£350+.
